  • Side armor value: 101
  • Rear armor value: 105
  • Top armor value: 50
  • Primary weapon damage: 190
  • Primary weapon penetration value: 143

Usage[]

The IS-2 is the second most powerful Russian tank in the game. Its heavy armor and devastating cannon enable it to take out Panthers with ease, and is equal to a Tiger. Panzer IVs and Panzer IIIs are simply no match for it. Its main drawback is the severe lack of ammunition storage. In real life, this was due to the ammunition coming in two parts, taking up extra space.

IS-3 heavy tank[]

Specifications[]

  • Primary armament:
  • Secondary armament:
  • Maximum speed:
  • Frontal armor value: 218
  • Side armor value: 182
  • Rear armor value: 156
  • Top armor value: 44
  • Primary weapon damage: 190
  • Primary weapon penetration value: 143

Usage[]

This is the second most powerful tank in the game, and the most powerful in the Soviet campaign. Its massive frontal armor combined with the cannon of an IS-2 makes it practically unstoppable in random missions, except by Panzershreck rocket launchers. It should be used to spearhead any attack, unless the player prefers to use T-34s at the front.

Real life dissimilarities[]

  • In WWII, the IS-3 never actually fought in Europe. They were present for the victory day parade in Berlin, and some were sent to the Far East, although it is unclear whether they actually fought.
  • When one compares the armor and armament of the King tiger and the IS-3, it is immediately apparent that the IS-3 would be 50/50 in an equal fight. However, in Blitzkrieg, a King Tiger is usually victorious (59% percent of victories, based on a fight staged 100 times in an equal fight).
